2. Defining Diversity and Inclusion: This section provides clear definitions of these terms and explains how they relate to each other.
3. Exploring Different Types of Diversity: This section delves into the various dimensions of diversity, such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, ability, and culture. It also covers intersectionality and how multiple identities intersect and shape one’s experiences.
4. The Importance of Diversity and Inclusion: This section discusses the benefits of diversity and inclusion, both for individuals and for organizations. It also addresses the challenges and barriers that can prevent diversity and inclusion from being realized.
5. Unconscious Bias and Other Barriers: This section explores the concept of unconscious bias and how it can impact perceptions, decisions, and actions. It also provides tools and strategies for recognizing and addressing unconscious bias.
6. Inclusive Communication: This section focuses on effective and inclusive communication, including language and terminology, active listening, and respectful dialogue.
7. Practical Steps for Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: This section provides concrete actions that individuals and organizations can take to promote diversity and inclusion, such as implementing policies and procedures, creating inclusive spaces and environments, and engaging in diversity and inclusion initiatives.
8. Achieving Productivity: This section presents the Productivity Empowered by Diversity program. Explain that overcoming all of the barriers, such as unconscious biases, is not easy and not necessary to increase productivity. Only those barriers that affect productivity should be overcome. The way to overcome it is like learning a language, a step at a time. It should cover the process:
Identify the barriers and specific unconscious biases that are affecting productivity.
– Make a plan to address each of the barriers and biases.
– Set up measurements to identify gaps.
– Start training quarterly and online videos.
– Start “Daily Diversity Actions” (DDA) focused on biases counterproductive to productivity.
– Quarterly review of the gaps
